Custodial death of Rayhan: Charge-sheet accepted against 5 cops, a journo

Today, a Sylhet court accepted a charge sheet against five police officers and a journalist for the death of Rayhan Ahmad.

Sylhet's Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistratrate Abul Momen accepted a charge-sheet filed by Police Bureau of Investigations (PBI), on May 5. Khokon Chandra Sarkar, assistant commissioner (prosecution), of Sylhet Metropolitan Police.

According to the assistant commissioner, Abdullah Al Noman was also the only suspect in the case.

All other accused were present at the court.

Rayhan Ahmed, 33, of Neharipara in Sylhet was tortured at Bandarbazar Police Outpost in October 2011. The police personnel admitted him to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical Hospital. He then died that day.
